These drawings belong to an ongoing series of works about the Düsseldorf art consultant, Helge Achenbach who was recently tried and convicted for fraud against Berthold Albrecht, late co-owner of the Aldi Nord supermarket chain. During the court case it was revealed that Achenbach had increased his commission by exchanging Dollar signs for Euros, forged documents that he referred to in the trial as ‘collages’.
Alex Wissel (b.1983, Aschaffenburg) has held a solo exhibition with Jan Bonny at Haus der Kunst, Munich (2016). His films have also been presented at Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne; Julia Stoschek Collection, Düsseldorf; Museum Ludwig, Cologne (2017); Dortmunder Kunstverein; Neuer Aachener Kunstverein (2016); Kestner Gesellschaft, Hanover and MUMOK, Vienna (2015). He lives and works in Düsseldorf.
