Michael Dean’s expansive sculptural installations are often characterised by an obsessive repetition of typographic and material components. Dean’s edition repeats a motif found in ‘Tender Tender’, his installation at this year’s Skulptur Projekte in Münster.
Michael Dean (b. 1977, Newcastle upon Tyne) has held solo exhibitions at South London Gallery; Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas (2016); De Appel, Amsterdam (2015); Ludwig Forum, Aachen (2014); Arnolfini, Bristol (2013); the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds (2012) and Kunstverein Freiburg (2011). Other exhibitions include a major commission for the Skulptur Projekte, Münster (2017). Dean was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2016 and was awarded the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award in 2014.
