Exhibition catalogue accompanying The Policeman’s Beard is Half Constructed: Art in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (22 September – 21 November 2017). The 140 page publication features 75 illustrations including a series of installation views of the exhibition. These are accompanied by a list of exhibited works, artist biographies, a detailed chronology and extended essay by the exhibition curator, Michelle Cotton. Other texts present different perspectives from the field of art, literature, computer and cognitive science and artificial intelligence, each addressing the question of the future implications of artificial intelligence for art and culture. The book also features an 16 page excerpt from the original 1984 publication, ‘The Policeman’s Beard is Half Constructed’, the first book written by a computer, from which the exhibition derives its title.
The publication is available from the Kunstverein and selected bookshops for 16 € (12 € for Bonner Kunstverein Members).
